Storm Rain on Vics Parade with 3-2 Comeback Win
After a big win against the Eagles Brad Thomson once again took the ball as the Vics
travelled to Norwich to face Mark VanVliet and the Storm.  Both pitchers started strong
with only five runners reaching base in the first three innings.  Dean Clement cashed in
the first run with a groundout to plate Thomson to give Ayr the lead in the fourth.  The
Vics tacked on another in the fifth as Chad Wells ran for Scott Freeman who reached
on an error.  Wells stole second, advanced to third on a throwing error and scored on
a wild pitch.  The lead held until the bottom of the sixth when the Norwich bats woke up.
Cowan doubled to set the stage for a game tying homer by Learn.  Back to back
singles followed and spelled the end for Thomson's night.  Oberle took the ball looking
to hold the Storm down but Mark VanVliet greeted him with a single.  Sprague
attempted to score but was gunned down at the plate by right fielder Josh Yost.  A
groundout to second ended up cashing the go-ahead run.  Ayr was unable to cash in a
runner from second base in the 7th and Norwich went away with the win.
