Once again it was Dwayne "Steamroller" Oberle taking the ball for the Vics as they faced Norwich at
home in Game 3 of the first round series.  Norwich scored one in the first inning as Adam Learn
scored on a double by Harwood.  Ayr responded loudly in the bottom half as Dan Mitchell blasted a 3
run homer to score Gillow and Scott.  Norwich tied the game in the third on the benefit of a couple
errors and three hits but once again Mitchell hurt the Storm as he walked, stole second and then
scored from there on a deep sacrifice fly by Dean Clement.  Learn promptly tied the score for
Norwich in the top of four with a solo homer.
In the bottom of the fifth the Vics finally broke through with the first true rally of the series when they
plated five big runs.  Graham Scott scored on a wild pitch with the bases loaded and one out.  After a
walk to Clement Kevin Ryrie delivered a two out single to plate two more.  Chad Wells then capped
the inning with a 2 run double.  Oberle shut down the Storm in the sixth and then handed the ball to
Mitchell who closed out an outstanding game for himself by striking out the side in the 7th.
Game 4 in the best-of-five series is set for Wednesday at 8:30pm in Norwich.

With Game 2 in Norwich on Sunday night “Steamroller” Oberle was looking for redemption and he
wasn’t about to wait for his teammates to put runs on the board.  The big man drilled a pitch over the
wall in the second inning to spot Ayr to a 1-0 lead.  Dean Clement then singled and neatly advanced
to second on a fly out.  He moved to third on a groundout then scored on a short chopper by Bevan
Wells that was bobbled by the catcher.  An error and a single in the bottom half of the inning allowed
Norwich to score on a groundout and cut the lead to one run.  It would remain that way until the fifth
when Brad Thomson, fresh off vacation, drove another ball out of the yard to restore the two run
advantage.  Oberle handed the ball to Thomson to pitch the bottom of five and the veteran righty took
control of the game.  He retired Norwich in order in the fifth and sixth but things got interesting in the
7th.  With two out and a runner on first a bobbled ball in the infield put the tying run on base.
Thomson induced a grounder to short and Bevan Wells made no mistake in gunning out the runner
to close the books on the game.
With the best-of-five series knotted at two, Game 3 is scheduled for Monday night at 8:30pm in Ayr
with Game 4 set for Wednesday night at 8:30pm in Norwich.  A fifth game, if necessary, has not yet
been scheduled.

Aug 26, 2010
The Norwich Storm came to town on Wednesday night and brought world class righty Rob Schweyer
to handle the pitching duties.  Dwayne Oberle was on the rubber for the Vics and both men provided
a stellar pitching performance.  The game was scoreless through 10 innings until Norwich broke
through by stringing a three hits together to score two runs in the 11th.  The Vics bats could not
handle Schweyer as only Oberle was able to record a base hit and 27 Ayr batters were K'd.  Final
score Norwich 2 Ayr 0
.

Vics ace Dwayne "Steamroller" Oberle lived up to his name last night in Otterville as he flattened the
opposition Bulls 2-0.  The big man allowed only three hits over seven innings while walking three.
His veteran opponent Shawn Steinhoff was also solid as he kept the Vics off balance all night
limiting the visitors to five hits.
Ayr opened the scoring in the third as Kevin Ryrie singled then advanced on a wild pitch.  He scored
on a single by Dan Clark to put the Vics up 1-0.  Neither team really threatened until the sixth when
the Bulls cleanup hitter Dave VanWyk doubled to put runners on second and third with one out.  The
next batter hit a one hopper to third and the runner was cut down trying to score.  A strikout by Oberle
ended the inning.
Ryrie terrorized the Bulls defence in the 7th after he reached on a fielder's choice.  With two out he
stole second and advanced to third when the throw went into center field.  A couple pitches later
Ryrie charged for the plate on a delayed steal and beat the throw back from the pitcher to score an
insurance run.  That's all Oberle needed to nail down the 2-0 win for the Vics.
The Vics complete the Tri-County regular season schedule with a 18-8 record to finish alone in third
place.  Ayr will play either Burgessville or Norwich in the first round of playoffs which is expected to be
a best of 5 affair starting next week.  When playoff details are available you will find them here on the
Vics website.

The Vics were looking to lock up third place in the Tri-County League but had to knock off the pesky
Mt. Elgin Mets to do it.  Ayr started early with leadoff batter Dan Clark singling and later scoring on a
groundout by Eric Edelman.  Vics hurler Mike Wells pitched out of a bases loaded, one out jam in the
bottom half by inducing a lineout to first which Edelman promptly turned into a double play by picking
the runner off third.  There was no more scoring until the fifth when Ayr plated three more.  Josh Yost
and Clark singled to set the table for the hot-hitting Graham Scott who doubled both home.  Scott
later scored as Dean Clement got in a rundown between first and second.  The Mets finally came
alive in the bottom of five as they took advantage of an error to record their first run.  The Vics added a
vital insurance run in the 7th as Scott singled then twice advanced on passed balls.  Another
groundout by Edelman allowed the veteran to sneak home to make the score 5-1.  As they have
done all too often recently the Vics then made it interesting as Mt. Elgin jumped on an infield error to
get a runner on base.  A single and triple later and the lead was cut to two.  After recording a flyout for
the second out Wells surrendered a double to close the gap to one.  Finally the Ayr boys were able to
put the game away as a groundout to short closed the book and secured third spot for Ayr.
There is one game remaining for Ayr which is tentatively scheduled for Friday night in Burgessville.

Aug 15, 2010
Clearly the Vics are missing the heart of their order who are away at the ISC World Championship
Tournament in Midland MI, as the offense was once again not up to the challenge.  Woodstock came
ready to hit the ball and Dwayne Oberle couldn't hold them back.  A five run outburst capped by a
grand slam put the Vics in the hole before they reached the plate.  Woodstock added another in the
fourth and two more in the fifth to make for an 8-0 lead.  Only one Vic was able to put a dent in starter
Mike Pullin as Graham Scott recorded two singles.  Dwayne Oberle drew two walks at the dish to
account for the only other Ayr baserunners.  Pullin finished the night with 9 strikeouts in the 5 inning
mercy victory.
The loss put Ayr in jeopardy of losing their third place seeding for the playoffs however Simcoe also
took a loss on Sunday night meaning one win in the last two games will keep the Vics in the three
spot.  Ayr plays in Mt. Elgin on Monday night then finishes with a game against Burgessville which
has yet to be scheduled.

Aug 13, 2010
The Vics started well early in this one as leadoff batter Kevin Ryrie reached on an infield error and
then Ken Sherk drilled the first pitch he saw over the right field fence for a two run lead.  The Lakers
answered with a run in the bottom half on three singles off starter Mike Wells.  Ayr plated another in
the second as Josh Yost stole second base to get into scoring position then scored on another Port
Burwell error.  Once again the Lakers came back as a single and double pushed across a run to cut
the lead to 3-2.  Ayr could not manage another hit in the next three innings and Port Burwell tied the
game in the fourth and then took a one run lead in the fifth after a batter reached base on a passed
ball strikeout.  The Vics finally came alive again in the sixth as Graham Scott led off with a double
and later scored on a short fly by Mark Koebel.  Neither team scored in 7 so the game went to extras.
In the top of 8 Scott once again led the chard with a single followed by a Bevan Wells single.  Mark
Koebel popped one over second that eluded the fielders and scored Scott.  Wells tried to score on a
groundout but was tagged out at the plate to end the inning.  In the home half Mike Wells had things
under control with two out when a ball snuck through the first baseman to allow a runner.  Then a
dropped fly ball scored the run and left the winning run on third.  The next batter drilled a ball off the
foot of Wells which bounced away from the fielders and allowed the winning run to score for a 6-5
Burwell win.

Aug 10, 2010
Woodstock will come to Ayr on Sunday Aug 15 for a 7:30pm tilt with the Vics.
Ayr will travel to Mt. Elgin on Monday Aug 16 for an 8:30 game with the Mets.
There is still a game with Burgessville to be scheduled prior to the end of the regular season on Aug
22.

Aug 3, 2010
Mike Wells got the start for Ayr against Nick McIntyre and both pitchers looked to be in control for the
first couple innings.  The Vics opened the scoring in the third without a hit as they took advantage of
three walks and three errors to plate 5 runs.  Innerkip struck back in the fourth on a leadoff homer by
Kreiger and a triple by Alyga to score Cook which closed the gap to 5-2.  The Vics finally put their bats
on the ball in the fifth as they cranked out six hits and seven runs.  Gillow drove in three with a double
while Sherk, Scott, Sayles and Cleasby drove in the others.  That would be enough for Mike Wells
who shut the door in the fifth to complete the mercy win 12-2.  The win gives the Vics a little breathing
room in the race for third with only four games left to play for Ayr.

Aug 2, 2010
There was a good crowd on hand for a Holiday Monday match between the Masters and the Vics at
Victoria Park.  Dwayne Oberle and Paul Sutton both put on a solid pitching display with only three
runners managing to get as far as second base in the contest.  Chad Wells opened the first inning
for the Vics with a triple and later scored on a Brad Thomson groundout.  Oberle kept the Masters off
the board with the help of some stellar defensive work by the infield where Brad Cleasby and Eric
Edelman turned a pair of nice double plays.  Sutton allowed five hits but never more than one per
inning to keep the Vics from scoring any more.  Oberle retired the last 10 in a row to secure a three-
hit, 1-0 victory.

July 26, 2010
After a big win against the Eagles Brad Thomson once again took the ball as the Vics travelled to
Norwich to face Mark VanVliet and the Storm.  Both pitchers started strong with only five runners
reaching base in the first three innings.  Dean Clement cashed in the first run with a groundout to
plate Thomson to give Ayr the lead in the fourth.  The Vics tacked on another in the fifth as Chad
Wells ran for Scott Freeman who reached on an error.  Wells stole second, advanced to third on a
throwing error and scored on a wild pitch.  The lead held until the bottom of the sixth when the
Norwich bats woke up.  Cowan doubled to set the stage for a game tying homer by Learn.  Back to
back singles followed and spelled the end for Thomson's night.  Oberle took the ball looking to hold
the Storm down but Mark VanVliet greeted him with a single.  Sprague attempted to score but was
gunned down at the plate by right fielder Josh Yost.  A groundout to second ended up cashing the go-
ahead run.  Ayr was unable to cash in a runner from second base in the 7th and Norwich went away
with the win.

July 25, 2010
This game was the complete opposite of the last meeting between these teams where there were
only 4 hits and 1 run.  Innerkip opened the scoring in the first after Adam McIntyre tripled and then
scored on an error.  Ayr responded to tie it in the bottom half when Brad Thomson singled home
Chad Wells.  Vics starter Thomson was rocked in the third as the Eagles plated 5 runs on 6 hits.
Once again Ayr fought back against Eagles hurler Tim Neill.  Thomson drilled a line drive off the
pitching hand of Neill but after a short delay he was back on the mound.  Dwayne Oberle promptly
punished the veteran with a grand slam to close the gap to one.  Oberle then took the ball to pitch the
remainder of the game for Ayr.   Paul McIntyre extended the lead to 3 in the fifth inning by belting a two
run shot over the left field wall.  In the bottom of six Ayr plated another run when Bevan Wells followed
a Scott Freeman double with an RBI single.  In the top of 7 the Eagles tacked on an insurance run
when Thornton tripled home Daryl Wright.  The game looked well in hand but the vocal crowd picked
up the Vics and they rallied in the bottom of 7.  Three straight singles loaded the bases and brought
the winning run to the plate with nobody out.  After Neill recorded a strikeout Ken Sherk flared a
single to center which plated two and brought the tying run to third.  Another strikeout put the Eagles
one out from the victory but Bevan Wells was ready to play the hero.  He completed a solid night at
the plate by driving a hard grounder past the second baseman and plating two runs for the walkoff
win.

July 19, 2010
A good crowd turned out to watch a fine defensive battle between Ayr and the Ingeroll Crush.
Dwayne Oberle faced Todd Winkworth on the mound and neither pitcher was prepared to give in.
Through four innings Ingersoll had two singles and Ayr had one hit each inning with a pair of
singles, a double by Chad Wells and a triple by Dean Clement.  In the top of five Ingersoll finally put
some hits together as Gray tripled, Cory Winkworth reached on an infield hit and then Josh Leuszler
drilled a ball over the left-center field wall for a three run homer.  The Vics put two runners on in the
bottom half but couldn't score.  In the bottom of the 7th a pair of leadoff singles brought the tying run
to the plate with nobody out but once again Winkworth shut the door and didn't allow the runners to
advance.
Chad Wells had a solid night at the plate for the Vics with a single, double and reaching on an error
and a fielder's choice.  The Vics simply couldn't get the job done with runners on base as they went
0-13 with runners in scoring position.  Oberle pitched a great game for the home side who now have
to regroup for a tilt with the Innerkip Eagles at Victoria Park on Sunday.

July 12, 2010
It was Ryan Gill vs Dwayne Oberle in an important battle in Ayr on Monday night.  The Red Devils
struck first with a pair in the top of one.  They would add to the lead in the third as Wylie scored his
second of the game.  Ayr finally hit the board in the bottom of the fourth after a disputed ball down the
line from the bat of Sherk eventually became a two-run triple.  Sherk scored on a single by Oberle to
tie the game.  While Oberle continued to hold Simcoe off the sheet the Vics took the lead in the fifth
as Sherk doubled home Wells and Scott for a 5-3 score.  McNevan led off the sixth for Simcoe with a
double but the "Steamroller" Oberle rolled over the next three batters to add to his strikeout count.
The Vics put some insurance runs on the board in the bottom of six on triples by Oberle and Wells
which surrounded a walk by Freeman.  Scott capped the inning with a two run tater that bounced off
the top of the left-center field wall and into the night to give Ayr a 9-3 lead.  Simcoe refused to roll over
and took advantage of a missed double play attempt to put a rally together.  Two singles and two
walks made the score 9-5 and then an error on a two out ground ball scored run number 6 and
brought the tying run to the plate.  Oberle finally induced a fly ball to end the game and secure the win
for the Vics.

July 11, 2010
The Ayr boys jumped out to an early start on Sunday night during a steady sun shower in Hickson.
Edelman doubled home Chad Wells and Mitchell to start things off and then Scott cashed in
Edelman with a single.  Dan Mitchell had the ball for Ayr and started off strong with four K's in the first
two innings.  As the Vics bats fell silent in the middle frames Hickson finally recorded their first hit off
Mitchell in the bottom of four.  An error by Sherk at third allowed the inning to continue and the Heat
cashed in the final two of their four runs in the frame.  With the bats looking dead it was some lax
defensive play by Hickson that sparked a Vics rally.  Bobby "Franchise" Gillow came in to pinch hit
and drove a sac fly to center which cashed Clement with the tying run.  Then a missed throw at first
extended the inning for Chad Wells who lofted a lazy fly ball to center that eluded a pair of fielders
and scored two.  Hickson put one run on the board and moved the tying run to third and winning run
to second before Mitchell induced a fly to center to end the contest with a 6-5 Vics win. July 9, 2010
The Vics hosted the Mt. Elgin Mets in a rare Friday night tilt at Victoria Park.  A small crowd was on
hand to see the Vics unleash an offensive barrage on the visitors as they scored 11 runs on 10 hits
and two errors in the first inning.  Bob Gillow provided two RBI singles in the frame while Eric
Edelman delivered an RBI single as well as a 2 run homer.  Chad Wells also delivered two doubles
with one RBI.  Mark Koeble drove in Scott Freeman in the second inning to have all 9 Vics starters
cross the plate in the first two innings.  That would be the end of the scoring for Ayr and Bob Gillow,
making his first start of the season, completed a solid one-hit effort on the mound.  Gillow walked 4
but struck out 6 to close out the five inning mercy win.

July 6, 2010
The Vics made the trip to Hickson with only 8 players to face long-time rivals Harwood Corners.  Mike
Wells started for Ayr against Jamie Adams.  Harwood opened the scoring in the second with three
runs.  The Vics scored in the fourth as Sayles drove in Freeman with a single.  Harwood restored the
3 run lead on a solo homerun by Morris.  Ayr plated another when Edelman tripled home Clement in
the fifth but Harwood put it away in the 6th with three more runs on a single, two hit batters and two
sacrifice flies.

July 5, 2010
The Ayr boys looked like they were ready to make a short night of this one as they struck for 5 in the
bottom of the first inning in support of starter Dan Mitchell.  Eric Edelman capped the frame off with a
2 run jack to center field.  In the second inning the Vics added to the lead by scoring three more with
Edelman once again providing the big hit on a 2 run double.   In the fourth the lead was extended
when a Dan Mitchell flare to short right eluded the second baseman and allowed Gillow and Chad
Wells to score for a 10-0 lead.  With two out in the fifth the Lakers began to mount their comback with
triples by Hoshal, McCurdy and Mike Franklin that helped put four runs on the board and elude the
mercy rule.  They added three more in the sixth to close the gap to 3.  Ayr finally responded with a
pair in the bottom half with Brad Cleasby doubling in two runs to restore a 5 run advantage.  Brad
Thomson took the ball in the 7th and promptly struck out the side to preserve the win for Ayr.

June 28, 2010
It was not a pretty defensive effort as the Vics committed 5 defensive errors but they put enough runs
on the board to defeat the Hickson Heat.
Vics starter Brad Thomson pitched out of a bases loaded, one out jam in the opening frame to keep
Hickson off the board.  He then doubled home Brad Cleasby for the first run in the bottom half.  A
single by Koebel and a walk to Sherk loaded the bases for Freeman who drew another walk to plate
a second run.  The Vics added to the lead in the second as Ryrie was hit by a pitch and moved up by
a Cleasby single.  Gillow drove in Ryrie and them Thomson delivered a 2RBI single to up the lead to
5-0.  Hickson fought back with a single run in the third and another two in the fourth to close the gap
to 2.  Ayr responded with a run in the bottom of 4 as Thomson drove in Cleasby with a sacrifice fly.
Hickson got the run back in the fifth after a single slipped past the right fielder and allowed Dan
Witzel to score.  Thomson closed out the fifth frame and handed the ball to Dan Mitchell who came
out throwing smoke.  He allowed one single in two innings of work and struck out 5 to finish the
game as a 6-4 Vics win.

June 16, 2010
The critical moment in this game came in the bottom of the first inning as a controversial double
down the third base line by Roulston plated two runs.  The Vics defense was rattled and a throwing
error led to a couple unearned runs to spot the Masters to a 5-0 lead.  The Vics battled back in the
second with three on consecutive hits by Koebel, Edelman, Sherk and Sayles.  Ingersoll then
answered with one in the bottom half.  Ayr closed the gap in the fourth as Scott tripled home Sayles
who had been hit by a pitch.  Bevan Wells then drove in Scott to close the deficit to one.  Once again
the Masters struck back as they plated two more in the bottom half to restore the three run lead.
Neither team could plate another run in the final three innings as the Masters defense held tough
and made some nice plays.  The final score was 8-5 for Ingersoll and that dropped the Vics into a
third place tie with Woodstock at 7-3.

June 13, 2010
Brad Thomson had another strong outing for the Vics as they defeated the Innerkip Jrs on Sunday
night.  Innerkip struck first in the top of 3 as Nick McIntyre drove in a Kirk Stevenson triple.  Ayr
responded with two in the bottom half as Brad Thomson delivered a two RBI single scoring Dean
Clement and Chad Wells.  Neither team would score again until the bottom of 6 when Ayr struck for
three more.  Eric Edelman scored the first on a throwing error then Wells drove in Kevin Ryrie.
Clement added one more singling in Wells.  Thomson closed out Innerkip in the 7th for the win.
Once again strong defensive play backed up the solid pitching to keep the Vics in third place in the
Tri-County standings.

June 9, 2010
The baseball gods must have really wanted to see a great pitcher's duel on
Wednesday night because in the early afternoon the clouds parted and the Eagles
and Vics were able to take to the field at the newly renovated Innerkip Community
Ballpark.  Mike Wells took the ball for Ayr while the Vics nemesis Tim Neill was the
Eagle's starter.  Neither team would be able to generate any offense until the third
inning when Innerkip managed back to back two-out triples by Daryl Wright and John
Atkinson to score the opening run.  A Mark Koebel hit found the plush new turf in the
top of four which would prove to be the only hit of the night for the Vics.  After that the
two pitcher combined to retire the next 19 batters to finish the game.  Innerkip moved
into a first place tie with a 1-0 victory and the Vics dropped into a tie for third.

Jun 7, 2010
This was a tight defensive battle with a few explosive moments of offense to make it interesting.
Norwich opened the scoring in the first on a two run blast by Adam Learn.  Dan Mitchell responded in
the bottom half with a long ball of his own to plate Chad Wells and tie the game.  Mark Van Vliet and
Brad Thomson held the opposing batters down through the fifth inning.  In the bottom of the sixth Eric
Edelman followed up a Brad Thomson single with a deep fly to give the Vics a 4-2 lead.  In the top of
the 7th right fielder Brad Cleasby gunned down a Norwich batter attempting to stretch a single.  The
final out was made on a great diving catch on the left field line by Vics rookie Dan Clark.

June 6, 2010
The Vics exploded for 6 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning for a mercy win over Brantford.  It was a
tight 1-0 game from the bottom of 2 on after Bob Gillow doubled home Chad Wells for the opening
run.  Ayr starter Dwayne Oberle stranded four runners in the first two innings then found himself in a
bases-loaded no-out jam.  A strikeout then a 1-2-3 double play ended the threat.  The Brantford
defense finally cracked in the bottom of five making four errors and allowing 6 runs on only 3 hits for
the mercy finish.

June 3, 2010
The Vics travelled to Ingersoll to face the always strong Crush squad on Thursday night.  After plenty
of rain the diamond was nicely softened up and it made for a good defensive ball game.  Ayr struck
early as leadoff batter Chad Wells trotted home from third when the Crush unsuccessfully attempted
to gun down Dan Mitchell stealing second.  Mike Wells took the ball for Ayr and cleaned up Ingersoll
the first time through the lineup.  The defense also helped him along as they converted two double
plays.  The Crush finally hit the scoreboard in the fourth as a double and RBI single opened the
frame.  Wells got the next two batters but DJ Latford turned on one and put it over the fence to put
Ingersoll up 3-1.  Ayr put together three singles in the fifth but Ken Sherk was gunned down at the
plate trying to score and the Vics were left empty handed.  Wells retired the first two batters in the
bottom half but once again Ingersoll came through in the clutch and plated four more runs capped by
a Darryl Wharram three-run blast.  In the sixth the Steamroller Dwayne Oberle chased a Dan Mitchell
triple with a double of his own to make the score 7-2.  Oberle would take the ball from Wells in the
bottom half to retire the Crush.  The Vics were unable to mount any more offense as they dropped a
game behind Ingersoll for the lead in the Tri-County League.

May 27, 2010
The Ayr Vics kept their early season momentum going last Thursday night in Windham Centre as
they knocked off the dangerous Simcoe Red Devils by a 4-3 count.  Coming into the game Simcoe
trailed the Vics by a half game with a 3-1 record.  Ayr welcomed back former league Most Valuable
Pitcher Mike Wells and promptly sent him to the mound as he formed a battery with his son Chad.
After Ayr stranded a couple runners in the top of the first the Wells duo quickly showed they could
handle adversity as Simcoe put runners on second and third with nobody out.  A flyout, popout and
strikeout later and the Vics were out of trouble.  After a clean second inning the Ayr offense finally
took flight thanks to a Gillow single and then a two-out single by Clement set the table for rookie Eric
Edelman.  “Big E” delivered his first clean hit of the season as he launched a deep fly over the center
field fence for 3 runs.  The Red Devils were not phased though and once again put the first two
runners on second and third.  The first runner was nailed trying to score on a grounder to Edelman
but an RBI double cashed two runs to close the gap.  The fourth was scoreless and in the fifth Vics
slugger Thomson drove a hard single to center which eluded the fielder.  The big man chugged all
the way around to third to set the table for Clement who drilled a ball off the pitcher’s glove and
plated Thomson for a 4-3 lead.  Thomson then took the ball from Wells to try and hold the
advantage.  Simcoe pushed around a run in the bottom half after a triple and groundout to once
again narrow the gap to one.
Simcoe chucker Ryan Gill held the Vics off the sheet for the final two innings allowing only one hit
and an intentional walk.  In the bottom of 6 Simcoe once again threatened with the leadoff batter
reaching third base but Thomson induced a popout to second to leave two on.  In the final frame a
one out single followed by a tough bounce error and a walk loaded the bases with two out.
Thomson finally out-dueled the Red Devil third bagger as he flied out to center field for the final out
and a 4-3 Vics win.

May 17, 2010
Dwayne Oberle made his first start for the season with the Vics and hurled a solid 2 hitter in Victoria
Park against rival Harwood Corners.  Ayr opened with three runs in the bottom of the first as Dean
Clement tripled home Bob Gillow and Brad Thomson and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Graham
Scott.  Oberle rolled through the lineup retiring the first nine Harwood batters while Scott cashed in
Clement with an RBI single in the third to open a 4-0 lead.  Harwood finally hit the scoresheet in the
fourth with a single and error followed by a sac fly to cash a run.  A double drove in another but then a
dropped third strike followed by a pair of throwing errors allowed Harwood to score two more and tie
the contest.  Oberle settled in and struck out the final two batters to preserve the tie score.  The Vics
responded with their bats in the fifth as Clement, Scott, Scott Freeman and Eric Edelman all scored.
Jeff Sayles had the big hit driving in two on a hard-hit single.  Oberle recovered from two more errors
in the sixth to hold the line as he added to his strikeout count, ending up with 13.  Dan Wakeford
crossed the plate in the sixth after pinch running for Thomson to round out the scoring.  Final tally
was 9-4 Vics as Ayr opens the season with three straight wins.

May 14, 2010
The Vics travelled to Lion's Park in Brantford on Friday evening to welcome the new Brantford Jrs to
the Tri-County League.  Steve Dubeau took the ball for Ayr and held the Jrs to one hit in the first.  The
Vics took advantage of 3 errors and 3 walks in the second to plate the first four runs of the game.
Dubeau was unable to find the zone in the bottom half and surrendered three runs back before
being relieved by Dean Clement.  Clement allowed three hits and two more runs before the inning
ended.  The third inning was scoreless but Ayr came back strong in the fourth as they batted around
for the second time in the game.  Seven runs came across including a three run triple by Gillow
followed by a two run homer through the strong wind by Brad Thomson.
The Jrs showed some grit as the answered with three more runs in the home half, all charged to
Clement.  Brad Thomson took over to close the inning and hold the lead.  The Vics continued to
punish Brantford starter Krcis with three more in the 5th as they jumped on two more errors and a
walk.  Thomson struck out three in three in the bottom half but did allow a run on three singles.  Over
the last two innings he struck out four more and only allowed two baserunners on errors.  Final
score was 14-9 for the Vics and they fled town with an ugly win.

May 10, 2009
Ayr opened the 2010 Tri-County season with a  5-1 victory over the Burgessville Bulls.  Veteran righty
Brad Thomson took the ball and tossed a solid 3 hitter over 6 innings while striking out 6.  Dwayne
Oberle came on to close the deal with a three-up, three-down 7th.
The Vics took advantage of 9 walks by Bulls pitching and pushed across five runs.  Dan Mitchell, and
Graham Scott provided two hits each with Scott's second being a perfectly executed suicide squeeze
to push across Scott Freeman in the 6th.  Thomson scored two and drove in a pair to help his own
cause.
